Island, an offshore islet few kilometers away from Sai Kung town, boasts a fine beach and an interesting tombolo that one could walk over to visit Kiu Tau at low tide.

  • Make sure you take the right ferry as there are ferry services going to both Kiu Tsui and Hap Mun Bay
  • Beware of village dogs near Hoi Sing Wan
It can hardly be regarded as a hiking route but Kiu Tsui is a fine beach for spending a half-day out in summer time.
Yim Tin Tsai was our original destination but it was too expensive to hire a boat for two of us. There are ferry services to the two beaches of Sharp Island, namely Hap Mun Bay and Kiu Tsui. Because Har Mun Bay is too popular for swimmers, Kiu Tsui was our last resort.

We tried climbing up to Hak Shan Teng but we could only find a densely vegetated path. We came unprepared so we had no choice but to give up.
